In Theresa Rebeck and Alexandra Gersten-Vassilaros's roman a clef script, Suzie has gathered a motley assemblage of self-important cultural elites for drinks, debate, and highfalutin eats post 9/11. This play might have worn out its welcome before the second course, but director Jason Loewith keeps the verbal balls in the air so well that even this clever work's facile aspects don't puncture its delights. It's fun to see a gifted ensemble dig into the script, especially a fabulous Wendy Robie as Suzie and Joseph Wycoff and Doug McDade as blowhards based on Christopher Hitchens and Tom Clancy. But the evening's emotional resonance comes mostly from the impassioned insights of the work's Edward Said stand-in, Khalid (Anish Jethmalani). Matthew J. York's set provides an eye-catching framework for this intriguing if not wholly satisfying discourse on our current and future policy problems. Through 12/12: Thu 7:30 PM, Fri-Sat 8 PM, Sun 2 PM. Mon 12/6, 7 PM. Thanksgiving holiday schedule through 11/28: Wed 7:30 PM, no show Thu-Fri, Sat 2 and 8 PM, Sun 2 PM.
