To the editors:

No theater review could compare to the thrill I got yesterday upon picking up your latest edition.

I raise money for Saint Joseph's Carondelet Child Center ["Child Abuse on the Brain," July 3] and have found it to be a more enriching form of service than anyone has a right to do. Every actor should be so lucky--to spend their offstage time calling attention to what we feel the need to avoid . . . and then ask for money to change it.

Thank you. These kids would thank you too, but they're not around right now. Maybe they're with the rest of Chicago, celebrating the 4th. Or maybe they're just out in our playlot celebrating themselves.
