A cynical architect from Buenos Aires, in the middle of a taxing divorce, travels to the remote mountain town of Purmamarca to scout locations for a housing development. Trying to determine what land is for sale, he's frustrated by the townspeople's laissez-faire attitude toward property ownership until a precocious 13-year-old girl helps him navigate their arcane ways. The two of them forge a strong bond, with Gaston Pauls and Marina Vilte giving affecting, understated performances in the lead roles. Director Alberto Lecchi focuses on small, everyday events, eschewing a big dramatic payoff, and his modest 2006 drama is enhanced by the picturesque town. In Spanish with subtitles. 85 min.
