Oobleck Election Play 2008: The Trojan Candidate Member Picks The Short List (Theater) Closing (Theater and Galleries)

When: Fridays-Sundays and Mon., Nov. 3. Continues through Nov. 2 2008

Assuming it's not the literal truth, the idea behind this Theater Oobleck show has loads of satiric potential. All these years, principle authors Jeff Dorchen and Danny Thompson posit, Dick Cheney's body has harbored a nasty, parasitic space virus a la Invasion of the Body Snatchers; now that the Bush administration's ending, the creature's got to find a new host that will allow it to continue wreaking havoc on humanity. So it invades the minds of various would-be presidents--Giuliani to Obama--looking for hospitable digs. Dorchen and Thompson use the premise to make lots of sharp observations about the candidates and American politics, but the moment for this piece has passed: people like Mike Huckabee matter less now, which makes them less funny. --Tony Adler

Price: $12, "more if you've got it, free if you're broke."
