There's too little at stake in this production of Simon Gray's bantering British comedy. Implacable, aloof Simon aims to spend the afternoon listening to Wagner, but he's constantly interrupted by visitors: his dull, depressive brother, a high-strung young tenant, a self-absorbed alcoholic school chum, an ambitious author who propositions Simon, an unhappy cuckold. Simon even finds out all the unwanted details of his wife's affair. Lauren Goode gives the only honest performance as the wife--all that Jim Poole can muster as Simon are a few heavy sighs and glazed looks. That leaves no one to care about in Michael Colucci and E. Malcolm Martinez's ho-hum production. --Jenn Goddu a Through 3/4: Fri-Sat 8 PM, Sun 3 PM, Actors Workshop Theatre, 1044 W. Bryn Mawr, 773-728-7529, $20-$25.
