Pacino Nailed It

In your September 16 issue your thumbnail review of Chicago Shakespeare's Merchant of Venice says it only works "if Shylock is a slapstick comic villain." Not for me: catch the recent movie with Al Pacino as a deeply wounded, deeply angry Shylock. You take your cue from Harold Bloom . . . a Jew-hating Jew?
