Paco de Lucia

Daniel Hernandez traces a rambling path through the life of brilliant flamenco guitarist Francisco Sanchez (known as Paco de Lucia), beginning with his wealthy background in Algeciras, Spain, and ending with one of his tours of the United States. This 2002 Spanish documentary is strictly for fans: Gomez snorkels in Mexico (again and again) and relaxes with pals who drown him in vapid praise. His fluid, jazzy improvisation is gorgeous, his fingering deft-if this were a concert video instead of a biography, the result would likely be stunning. In Spanish with subtitles. 94 min.
