Paint By Numbers

Dear Reader,

Classic, biting satire, Fred Camper's "Original Spin" (10 March issue). I am so jealous that I didn't think of the concept first, of creating a totally imaginary Chicago "Artist" to pound home all the cliches:

--young male, poor

--SAIC grad! Yeah!

--from dysfunctional family

--debating whether to move to New York

--totally derivative artwork, but "favorably reviewed" and academically lauded for its deft postmodern references (that 'Post-it' painting! Pure genius!!!)

--was in a band

Who says Chicago is 2nd or 3rd rate? Reader kicks ass!

Lee Kay

N. Halsted

(By the way, the wistful-looking model--where'd you get him?)
