April 8, 6:55 AM, 4800 block of South Lake Park. Vehicle hijacking. Man stuck gun in face of woman getting into car in front of her house. He took her purse and drove east in car. After driving about 20 blocks, man crashed into school bus. No one was hurt. Man fled from car but was tackled by construction workers, who detained him until police arrived. Man's weapon was later found to be pellet gun.

April 16, 10 PM, 300 block of North LaSalle. Assault. Cab driver made U-turn in front of another cab. Drivers pulled up next to each other. One driver said, "What are you, stupid?" Driver who made U-turn said, "Who are you calling stupid?" He exited cab, removed knife from pocket, and waved it at other driver, who fled. Knife-wielding driver chased fleeing man around the block before driving away. Man was not injured.

April 26, 10:45 AM, 4600 block of North Broadway. Theft. Security guard observed 23-year-old man opening packages of Batman and Robin action figures and putting them in his pants pocket. Man also stuffed unopened packages under his shirt. He was arrested.

April 26, 10 PM, 5200 block of South Cicero. Possession of stolen motor vehicle. Man visited home of former boss, a car repossessor, claiming boss still owed him $500 in back wages. After argument, employee left. The next morning, repo man noticed that keys were missing to 1987 Mercury Sable. Phone rang. It was employee, who said he would return car for $500. Repo man arranged to meet employee in parking lot. Police sent surveillance car. Employee drove up in Sable. Police watched exchange and arrested employee.
