Planet Earth

Three hour-long episodes of Richard Attenborough's 2007 BBC series on the myriad forms life takes on our third rock. Part eight, “Jungles,” explores the vanishing equatorial niche for almost half the world's species, from forest floor to canopy. Part nine, “Shallow Seas,” investigates surface-level aquafauna, from coral reefs to antarctic floes, while part eleven, “Ocean Deep,” dives to thousand-meter depths, where octopi purportedly “fly with wings.” Alastair Fothergill directed.
