Planet of Storms

Hardy cosmonauts land on Venus, looking for signs of intelligent life, but all they find are a few dinosaurs, some six-foot Godzillas, and a gigantic flower with flailing tentacles. This 1961 space opera from the Soviet Union functions at the pleasantly stupid level of the old Lost in Space series, with cool hovercrafts and a robot that plays recordings of big band music. Pavel Klushantsev directed. In Russian with subtitles. 83 min.
