Polish Film Festival in America

The festival continues this weekend with screenings around the city and suburbs. Among the features showing are Andrzej Wajda's historical drama Katyn, about the suffering of the Polish people during the Nazi and Soviet invasions in World War II (Fri 11/21, 6:30 PM, Skokie); Igor Kalenov's epic Alexander: The Neva Battle, which chronicles the Russian prince's campaign to defend Novgogrod against the Germans and Swedes (Sat 11/22, 7 PM, Pickwick; Sun 11/23, 7 PM, Facets Cinematheque); Marina Zenovich's documentary Roman Polanski: Wanted and Desired, about the statutory rape case against the famous film director (Sun 11/23, 5 PM, Society for Arts); and a revival of Aleksander Ford's 1948 family drama Border Street, which is set during the Warsaw Uprising (Sun 11/23, 7 PM, Skokie).
