Political Vagenda New Review (Theater and Comedy) The Short List (Theater) Closing (Theater and Galleries)

When: Mondays, Tuesdays, Sundays. Continues through Nov. 10 2015

A scientist has found a way to create stealth conservative women to infiltrate and destabilize right-wing America. She’s demonstrating her method—which amounts to little beyond selecting pretty, dull women—to other scientists ensconced beyond mirrored glass for no discernible reason. And she insists she’s in a musical, despite a complete lack of music. This puzzling skit, like many of the 26 others in Stockyards Theatre Project’s puzzling evening, obscures an inarguable point behind murky theatrical logic. And despite the program’s banner pronouncement that “nothing is more political than being a woman in 2015,” some of the pieces have nothing to do with gendered political issues (two male friends discover they cheer for opposing Chicago baseball teams). Uneven performances add additional incoherence. —Justin Hayford
