Poverty Tax- Live at The Gallery Cabaret 2020 N. Oakley- Fri. Sept. 4th- w/ \"Mexcellent\", new photographs by Melody Solveig.

When: Fri., Sept. 4, 8 p.m. 2009

After a "high"-ly attended festival appearance at the annual Chicago Peace Fest outdoors at Lincoln Park, the trio "rolls up" to the comfy Gallery Cabaret this Friday, September 4th. This will be a "joint" effort with local photographer Melody Solveig, whose exhibition of new works- MEXCELLENT- "lights" up this Friday at The Gallery. Photography reception begins at 8PM, with live music by Poverty Tax at 9PM. The band is known for sprawling, 3 hour shows featuring bar-room folk/country anthems, dusty blues ballads, pop/rock acid trips, and noisier blasts of garage punk energy. Poverty Tax typically breaks the 4th wall between the audience and performer, encouraging the sort of whiskey-spilling comradery that both Hank Williams and The Replacements would be proud of. Event is free to the public. Attendees must be 21 to enter.
