Pushing Hands

A Taiwanese-American coproduction, Ang Lee's first feature (1992) follows the cultural clashes, disappointments, and ultimate triumph of a retired tai chi master (Sihung Lung) who leaves Beijing for New York. The film won three Golden Horse awards in Taiwan and was the first Taiwanese feature ever to secure U.S. distribution. In English and subtitled Mandarin. 105 min.
