Put My ____ in Your ____ aka Your 15 Minutes of Finger Closing (Theater and Galleries) The Short List (Theater)

When: Fridays, Saturdays. Continues through Aug. 27 2011

Nearly 50 years after the creation of Andy Warhol's Factory, its decadence, self-absorption, counterculture snobbery and low-rent glamour have become as banal as the assembly-line silk screens produced there. For the new Mammals performance piece, writer and director Bob Fisher creates a kind of contemporary Factory so similar to the original that its leader, Snail, dresses, speaks and minces exactly like Warhol circa 1967 while his sycophantic entourage pout and prance in retro mod fashions. Into the mix come polar-opposite sisters, attention-starved party girl Birdy and wounded introvert Turtle, whose fragile constitutions are no match for oppressive fabulousness. Fisher and company rarely enliven exhausted cliches, and they haven't found unified theatrical conventions—let alone a credible story—that might bring coherence to their freewheeling affair. —Justin Hayford
