Queertopia: The Anti-Violence Project Recommended New Review (Theater and Comedy) The Short List (Theater) Closing (Theater and Galleries)

When: Thursdays-Sundays. Continues through July 25 2010

The young cast of this moving, oral-history-based project use song, dance, poetry and voguing to explore violence inside and surrounding the LGBTQ community. Interwoven vignettes center on Flea, a transgendered boy with feelings for a straight girl, and Teddy, a woman-identifying queer dealing with harassment at school. Flea and Teddy's friendship transcends gender identity stereotypes as the two navigate high school and sexuality. The object of Flea's affection is Lexi, a straight girl learning to embrace bisexuality. The production ends with balloons flying and a fantastic dance party with the audience. --Marissa Oberlander
