Quietly On By

Directed by Frank V. Ross of suburban Westmont, this intimate drama builds to a compelling portrait of psychological disintegration. The hero (Anthony J. Baker) has suffered a nervous breakdown after losing both his job and his girlfriend; he's an intelligent and affable slacker, yet chance encounters with strangers driving SUVs give him the cold sweats, and women are repelled by his increasingly inappropriate behavior. The script rings true, and by using two digital cameras Ross doesn't miss a beat of the charged interactions between his skillful actors. With Lonnie Phillips, Jennifer Knox, and Danielle Ostrowski. 97 min.
