Caitlin Montanye Parrish's new play focuses on a teenage brother and sister from a small town in north Florida as they come to terms with the death of their monstrous father. Throw in a couple of similarly troubled sidekicks--a suicidal cutter and a persecuted gay guy--and you've got four very sad kids. And that's about all you've got. Parrish seems to want to say something about the way emotional scars linger and about the destructive power of secrets in a repressive community obsessed with appearances. But her characters are in a state of somnambulant victimhood, and neither the script's group-therapy bromides nor Erica Weiss's catatonic production--Hypatia Theatre Company's inaugural effort--can awaken them. Through 8/14: Thu-Sat 8 PM, Sun 7 PM. Prop Thtr, 3502-4 N. Elston, 773-857-7173. $5-$10.
