Red Light Winter Closing (Theater and Galleries) Member Picks The Short List (Theater)

When: Thursdays-Sundays. Continues through Dec. 18 2011

Adam Rapp's play about best friends locked in a long-standing love/hate relationship is a doozy. Sasha Gioppo is brilliant as Christina, a young prostitute who becomes the hub around which the friends' twisted world revolves, and Dan Behrendt is spot-on in his passive intensity as Matt, an ill, depressed playwright who's been brought to Amsterdam ostensibly for some R and R by his former roommate, Davis. But Dereck Garner's Davis leans so far into the realm of American Pie's Stifler that it becomes increasingly difficult to see the men as intellectual equals, much less pals. With help from Matthew Gawryk's tasteful lighting, Scott Davis's set transports the audience to two locations with great specificity. —Joshua Sumner
