ReFab | Mess Hall | Special Events | Chicago Reader

When: Sat., June 27, 12 p.m. 2009

ReFab uses the talents of book, paper, and new media artists to repurpose objects that might otherwise just go to a landfill. By repurposing unwanted objects, it is our hope that visitors to the exhibit will become more conscious of possible uses for objects that have seemingly outlived their original purpose. We also would like to demystify and democratize the process of making art by inviting the visitor to interact with the ReFab artists. About the Artists: The artists behind ReFab currently attend Columbia College Chicago’s Interdisciplinary Arts MFA program. Marnie Galloway, Sarah Vogel, Maggie Puckett, Heather Bella and Amanda Meeks are book and paper artists who specialize in letterpress printmaking, hand papermaking, works on paper, and fine bookbinding. Laura Miller, Colleen McGann, Kristina Gosh, Kelli Cousins and Nicholas Sagan are new media artists whose work includes experimental video, animation, performance art and interactive installations.
