Reno 911! Miami

I've never been able to tolerate more than two minutes of Comedy Central's Reno 911!, a pale TV knockoff of Broken Lizard's giddy cop comedy Super Troopers (2001), and transferring it to the big screen only magnifies its mediocrity. Cowriters Ben Garant, Thomas Lennon, and Kerri Kenney devise a few good gross-out gags (when the cops try to move a dead beached whale, one of them plunges through its skin), but this is mostly a listless hodgepodge of half-improvised whatever, the seven lead characters so flatly conceived they're like the Keystone Kops (without the chops). Garant directed; with cameos by Danny DeVito, Paul Reubens, Michael Showalter, the Rock (hilarious as a macho SWAT officer), and Paul Rudd (burlesquing Al Pacino in Scarface). R, 84 min.
