Return of the Dragon

Bruce Lee took over the director's chair on this 1973 film, the last he would live to complete. After the shiny thrills of Robert Clouse's Enter the Dragon, it seems a bizarrely amateurish effort, a routine Hong Kong cheapie shot partly on location in Rome, where some local mafiosi are attempting (for reasons never quite made clear) to take over a Chinese restaurant. Lee arrives in his usual character as a hick from the sticks, who proceeds to teach the city slickers a thing or two about Chinese boxing. Chuck Norris appears in a nonspeaking role as Lee's final opponent; they do battle in front of a large photograph of the Colosseum. With Nora Miao. 91 min.
