Takashi Yamazaki's endearingly flimsy SF adventure opens in the year 2084: Tibet has become the last stronghold of human resistance against an alien invasion, and a spunky young freedom fighter (Anne Suzuki) leaps through a time portal to thwart the first landing of the creatures in present-day Tokyo. There she hooks up with a gunsel (Takeshi Kaneshiro) who's locked in a duel of wills with a quietly crazed mob lieutenant (Goro Kishitani). Suzuki and Kaneshiro keep the first hour afloat with their easy comic interplay, but Yamazaki badly needs editing: the opening escape sequence is needlessly repeated later, and a slow drip of false endings drags this out to a tiring 118 minutes. In Japanese with subtitles.
