Scripted in 24 hours and shot in 20 days, this low-budget 2003 indie updates Rigoletto to the eat-shit-and-beg-for-more world of corporate Manhattan. Bill Pullman stars as Rick O'Lette, a heartless executive at the vaguely defined Image Corporation whose life begins to unravel after a humiliated job applicant (Sandra Oh) lays a curse on him. The characters are so bilious and the tone so persistently sour that Rick's moment of moral illumination (“I used to be a good person”) barely registers. Curtiss Clayton directed; with Dylan Baker and Agnes Bruckner. R, 100 min.
