Now that the Lollapalooza and Pitchfork lineups are out, let's take a swing at Riot Fest. Gossip Wolf predicts its bill will include Kansas City emo veterans the Get Up Kids, downstate shoegazers Hum, Minneapolis MC P.O.S, Michigan posthardcore kids La Dispute, grunge forefathers Mudhoney, Canadian indie-pop outfit Tokyo Police Club, Pennsylvania emo upstarts Balance & Composure, posi party dude Andrew W.K., beloved nerd rockers Weezer, vintner Maynard James Keenan and Tool, and postpunk legends Public Image Ltd. How about locals? Let's say instrumental metal group Pelican, straightedge party rapper ShowYouSuck, and reunited emo heavyweights Braid and Owls.

Gossip Wolf knows Matt Pakulski from weird-ass Massachusetts-based noise-rock band Fat Day, but these days he also runs an avant-awesome Chicago label called For Practically Everyone. FPE is revving up for spring—on Tue 4/15 it drops Intergalactic Beings by jazz flutist and former Chicagoan Nicole Mitchell and her Black Earth Ensemble, whose ten-piece lineup includes guitarist Jeff Parker, bassist Joshua Abrams, and reedist David Boykin. It's available for preorder, and on Record Store Day (Sat 4/19) Dusty Groove will carry a limited edition with a print from artist Adebukola Bodunrin. In June FPE will release a new LP from charming local pop duo Zigtebra, and it's got albums from Minneapolis pop-punk band the Miami Dolphins and Ethiopian instrumental quartet Qwanqwa on deck.

The supersonically psyched-up jams of local four-piece Secret Colours remind this wolf of Britpop ear candy like Blur and Oasis. Their second EP of 2014, Positive Distractions Part II, comes out Tue 4/29, and you can preorder both EPs combined into a full-length CD, LP, cassette, or Bandcamp download. The lads play the Empty Bottle on Wed 4/23 with Mister Suit (celebrating the release of the single "Get It Right").
