Rollin' Outta Here Naked: A Big Lebowski Burlesque Member Picks The Short List (Theater) Closing (Theater and Galleries)

When: Fridays, Saturdays. Continues through Sept. 22 2012

Vaudezilla's burlesque of the 1998 Coen brothers cult comedy The Big Lebowski re-creates scenes from the movie and intersperses them with complicated striptease numbers performed to songs from the Lebowski soundtrack. The result is a lively but underrehearsed and occasionally incoherent show that careens from mildly diverting bits to some that are laugh-out-loud funny. Oddly enough, it's the stripping—performed with more care and precision than the dramatic scenes—that holds the show together. The evening features some pretty good performances. Logan Conner earns laughs with his bang-on imitation of the Dude. And Tara Ractyl is astonishing, funny, and odd in drag, playing the Dude's easily angered sidekick Walter Sobchak—especially when she gets down to her fake beard and Star of David pasties. —Jack Helbig
