Rosarigasinos

Released from an Argentinean prison after 30 years, two hapless ex-cons (Federico Luppi and Ulises Dumont) make a beeline for their familiar haunts, only to find the world changed and their stashed loot gone. They team up with a former associate to stage a heist, but an old flame reappears to throw them off their game. This dark 2001 comedy gathers steam with cops-and-robbers slapstick, then detours into ugly tedium as mistrust and misogyny rupture the friendship; the uneven tone prevents the leads from engendering any empathy for their characters, and the ending is flat and cliched. Rodrigo Grande directed. In Spanish with subtitles. 90 min.
