Rose The Short List (Theater) Image Closing (Theater and Galleries)

When: Thursdays-Sundays. Continues through March 11 2018

When it comes to Kennedy family retrospectives, it is downright shocking that, at this point, every square inch of Camelot hasn't already been gone over with a fine-tooth comb. Alas, Laurence Leamer's docudrama solo play relies on hours of unearthed interviews between Times to Remember memoir ghostwriter and biographer Robert Coughlan and the matriarch Kennedy, much of it centered on the family's fall from grace. There's no doubt Linda Reiter's performance of Rose—especially when relaying the cruel, devastating saga of her daughter Rosemary's lobotomy—is studied and exacting. Whether audiences respond to it, though, rests entirely on their tolerance for groggy, chronological, biographical one-person play conventions. And, perhaps, whether they're properly caffeinated. —Dan Jakes
