Rosie | Chicago Reader

Three dubious revelations in this repetitive 1999 drama about a 13-year-old in Antwerp who's obsessed with romance novels are obvious well before they're acknowledged. Her mother, only 13 when her daughter was born, insists they pretend to be sisters. The daughter's perceived rejection and another family secret are supposed to account for her sociopathic behavior, the details of which are initially withheld only to be revealed long after I stopped wondering about them. Written and directed by Patrice Toye; with Aranka Coppens and Sara de Roo.
