Scab | Chicago Reader

This lurid thriller uses vampirism as a metaphor for AIDS: after being raped by a pickup, the protagonist sprouts fangs and infects friends and strangers alike with his newfound bloodlust. Writer-director Thomas Jason Davis squanders an intriguing premise with his stilted dialogue, contrived plotting, and gratuitous gross-out effects. The only redeeming feature is the actors, who are good-looking and manage to keep straight faces. 101 min.
