Scott Weiland, Eagles of Death Metal, Cold War Kids All Ages Early Warnings (Music) Soundboard Recommended

When: Thu., Dec. 18, 5:45 p.m. 2008

I’ve gotta give it up for Scott Weiland. After a decade and a half, even some formerly militant Stone Temple Pilots haters will admit that their bad feelings toward the band had more to do with punk snobbery than the quality of its music, which is aging gracefully into classic-rock status. And while many of us cringed through God knows how many MTV News bumpers about Weiland going into or getting out of rehab, the TMZ gossip-media revolution has vindicated the use of a substance addiction as a means of keeping your name in people’s mouths between albums. Weiland’s latest is a slight solo collection of grunge-pop called “Happy” in Galoshes (New West) that will probably need more than a bit of luck to earn the same kind of reappraisal in ten years.
