When: Fri., April 23, 5 p.m. 2010
Since the 1970's installation has replaced sculpture as the favorite 3-D medium in institutional post-modern art. Sculpture, perhaps even more than painting, has suffered in the contemporary art world for its association with the classical academic traditions and its identification with the official monuments. The object of this exhibition is to show that sculpture remains an essential medium for contemporary creators and is still being practiced with a vitality and sophistication that is seldom acknowledged in the institutional world. This exhibition runs through May 18th.
