Seeds of Change Marketplace

When: Sat., Dec. 5, 10 a.m. 2009

Berry United Methodist Church presents the 5th Annual Holiday Seeds of Change Marketplace, featuring fair trade coffees, tea, chocolate, clothing, olive oil, soaps, toys and much more. Fair trade vendors guarantee that the farmers and craftspeople who produce their products receive a living wage--enough money for housing, education for their children, healthcare, food, and clothing. According to the New York Times, "[l]ike consumer awareness of organic products a decade ago, fair trade awareness is growing" (Fair Trade in Bloom, NYT, 10/2/07). The Market will also feature a performance of Quest Ensemble’s Blue Nativity and The Screaming Vikings’ production of The Best Christmas Pageant Ever. Homemade chili and fresh brewed fair trade coffee and hot chocolate will also be on hand. Berry United Methodist Church is a member of Chicago Fair Trade.
