Selling Democracy: Films of the Marshall Plan, 1948-1953

Two programs of short films produced under the motion picture unit of the Marshall Plan. The first program, “True Fiction” (120 min.), features fiction and docudrama, including an Italian story about an unemployed thief, a tale about a generational rift acted by Dublin's Abbey Players, a light mockery of the British class system, and an Alpine holiday enjoyed by people of different nationalities. The second, “Strength for the Free World” (109 min.), focuses on anticommunist shorts, including an animated pitch for the Common Market.
