TimeLine Theatre presents a free streaming behind-the-scenes look at Lloyd Suh's play The Chinese Lady, with scenes and discussions about the background of the story. It's based on the life of 14-year-old Afong Moy, who was brought to the United States from Guangzhou Province in 1834. Allegedly the first Chinese woman to set foot on U.S. soil, Moy was exhibited as a curiosity for white audiences who were especially fascinated by how she walked on her bound feet. The play was originally scheduled for a production with TimeLine, but that is currently on hold.
