Sharks 3D

Jean-Michel Cousteau narrates this excellent large-format documentary, with undersea footage shot over nine months in the Red Sea and off the Pacific coast of Mexico, the Indian Ocean coast of Africa, and the Polynesian islands. The 3-D technology may promise hair-raising scenes of aggressive sharks, but it's used most dramatically to capture the depth of the fish schools that hover around the big guys, hoping to catch some of their leftovers. That sense of connectedness between the species in turn becomes the movie's theme, as director Jean-Jacques Mantello notes the primacy of sharks in the food chain, then reveals that our industrial fishing has landed them all on the endangered-species list. 42 min.
