An assortment of Shelly Silver works, including the clever Small Lies, Big Truth (1999), in which she shows images of zoo animals as men and women read testimony from Bill and Monica recorded in the Starr Report (both say, “I performed oral sex on him”). In What I'm Looking For (2004) a woman advertises for people who want to reveal themselves on camera, and the result is an affecting document of her failure to connect. Also on the program are parts of two longer videos, including the superb Suicide (2003), a fragmentary work in which a fictional woman (played by Silver) wanders three continents shadowed by childhood trauma, separating from her surroundings as she sinks into a private world. 85 min.
