Show Me Love

This powerful, funny romantic drama neatly integrates the dilemmas of a girl in love, the girl she loves, a boy who also loves that girl, and that girl's sister. The camera work--especially the frequent use of unobtrusive zooms--erases the distinction between observing and identifying with the teenage characters. As they react to the apparent limitations of living in a small town in Sweden--mainly conventional notions about romance and sex that threaten to restrict one girl's behavior--the movie personalizes their problems, making small-town life much more than a generic metaphor for narrow ideas. Written and directed by Lukas Moodysson; with Rebecca Liljeberg, Alexandra Dahlstrom, Erica Carlson, and Mathias Rust. Music Box, Friday through Thursday, March 24 through 30.
