San Francisco's radically confessional dyke open mike has gone mobile--and it's slamming through Chicago, via Las Vegas, Charlottesville, Cleveland, Provincetown, Austin, New Orleans, and Boston. The 12 confrontational all-stars in Sister Spit Ramblin' Road Show perform stand-up queer comedy, poetry, and performance art from a two-year running gig in the Bay Area. The cast includes New York poet Eileen Myles (who ran for president in 1992), Tribe 8's Lynn Breedlove, reigning "SF Drag King '97" Duke Bombardier, and Chicago poetry-slam veteran Sini Anderson. According to Anderson, Sister Spit's work shows audiences "that it's good to write your stories without worrying about how people are going to relate to you--you don't have to fit in." To read bios, poems, and a running diary of the tour by these self-described "bigmouth dykes...writing from the heart," check out their Web site at Then make your reservations for an experience the San Francisco Bay Guardian calls "funky, disturbing, comically articulate, bombastic, cute, offensive, childish, gross, and uninhabitable." Bop Shop, 1146 S. Wabash (note new location), 773-275-7771. Tuesday, August 5, 7 PM. $6. Also at Thurston's, 1248 W. George, 773-472-6900. Wednesday, August 6, 9 PM. $4. --Carol Burbank
