Sleeping With Straight Men Closing (Theater and Galleries) The Short List (Theater)

When: Thursdays-Sundays. Continues through June 4 2011

The trailer-trash gay guy at the center of Ron Larsen's 2003 comedy has exactly two interests: seducing straight men and becoming famous. He gets a chance to pursue both when he's invited on to a TV talk show to reveal his yen for a heterosexual acquaintance who's also a guest on the show. Things don't end well. Larsen's script is loosely based on the 1995 murder of Scott Amedure, whose straight crush shot him after an appearance on The Jenny Jones Show. At this point, a satire about sleazy talk shows and their fame-hungry guests feels about as fresh and interesting as a Joey Buttafuoco joke. Ludicrous Theatre Company's sloppy, poorly paced production doesn't help. --Zac Thompson
