The neighborhood was glad to welcome Smokin' Woody's from its original Southport location about a decade ago, but the truth is it wasn't a destination barbecue place then, and it's not now, although it has its devotees and has definitely improved with a change in ownership. The ribs are smoked pink and firm rather than fall-off-the-bone meat Jell-O. The sandwiches are more reliable (the pulled pork strains the bun), and Woody's potatoes--roasted redskins slathered in barbecue sauce--are distinctive.
