Snow White and the Seven Drag Queens Closing (Theater and Galleries) Member Picks Recommended The Short List (Theater)

When: Fridays, Saturdays. Continues through May 9 2009

Sure it's a hot mess, but who wants Masterpiece Theatre on the Hydrate dance floor? In MidTangent Productions' trashy, self-consciously amateurish parody of Disney's Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, seven slovenly drag queens live in fashion-free squalor until out-of-work beautician Snow White moves in and makes them over, provoking the jealous wrath of their evil drag landlady Millificent Duville. Writer and director Tony Lewis crams ten people onto a tiny raised platform and puts them through their divalicious paces. When not belting out Britney Spears, Rosemary Clooney, Pussycat Dolls, Pink, RuPaul, and Julie Andrews--or stepping on one another's lines--the queens throw more shade than a total eclipse. Emily Rogers's mesmerizing, surprisingly delicate Snow White redefines fierce. --Justin Hayford
