Soul Boy

German director Tom Tykwer oversaw the production of this low-budget drama from East Africa (2010), developing the story with Kenyan author Billy Kahora. Ghanaian-Kenyan filmmaker Hawa Essuman directed it, casting it around the city of Nairobi and shooting it in local slums. It tells the story of a boy who discovers his father has gambled away his soul to a female witchdoctor.
