Soul Plane

After winning $100 million in a lawsuit, a young layabout (Kevin Hart) launches his own airline just for black folks, with planes covered in purple velvet and flight attendants serving dinners of Colt .45 and Popeye's chicken. Snoop Dogg is the blunt-puffing captain, Tom Arnold a squirming suburban dad, and John Witherspoon the lecherous blind man who thinks he's scored big when his fingers land in a baked potato with sour cream. As you might have guessed already, this is dumb, raunchy, and obvious, but it's also pretty funny, and delivered with the gusto of a Redd Foxx monologue. Jessy Terrero directed. R, 86 min.
