Spirit House: New Work by Robert Todd

Bostonian Robert Todd has been making films for two decades, but in recent years he's begun to garner wider attention for his work, showing in many festivals. In the almost mystical Riverbed (2008) the camera searches for a culvert-enclosed river, gliding past fences and plants to suggest flowing water. Evergreen (2005) and Interplay (2006) both reveal a love of lush color: in the first, black-and-white shots of plants are followed by stunning color footage of flowers, and in one section of the second, brightly colored close-ups show girls playing in the water, a pale pink foot framed by swimming pool blue. Four more works complete the program. 94 min.
