Collaborators and friends of fondly remembered local musician Stephanie Morris, who died in 2009, honor her with a memorial show at the Hideout on Sat 11/1. The concert includes sets from Dianogah with Nora O'Connor (the trio will also debut songs by a new project, Whelms, with C-Clamp guitarist Tom Fitzgerald), Holly Muñoz with Morris's backing band the Rest, and members of Scotland Yard Gospel Choir and Warm Ones joining John Huston, Morris's partner in the Pawners' Society, to reimagine that acoustic duo's material. The show celebrates the release of a Morris solo album and a Pawners' Society EP, which will be given away—though donations are accepted, and will benefit Girls Rock! Chicago (as will the $8 cover).

Local filmmaker Clara Alcott has tapped Gossip Wolf's favorite drony Chicago duo, White/Light, to score a noirish new sci-fi short film called The Distant Architect, which tells the story of a young architect who begins to wonder if she's partly cybernetic. Alcott hopes to raise $9,000 via a Kickstarter campaign that runs till Sat 11/8.

Cursive front man Tim Kasher is making a movie, and he wants you to be in it! It's called No Resolution, and it's about tensions boiling over between an engaged couple on New Year's Eve. Auditions are Sat 11/1; there's more info at bit.ly/1tXLIBU. Speaking of New Year's, Kasher's band the Good Life headlines the Abbey Pub on 12/31—and Saddle Creek reissues Cursive's The Ugly Organ on Mon 11/24.

New local duo Hide landed a plum spot opening for Alkaline Trio at Metro last month, and not just because singer Heather Gabel spent a bazillion tours as an AK3 roadie—Hide's dramatic darkwave hits the spot! The duo, which also includes Seth Sher of Psychic Steel, headlines the Empty Bottle on Tue 11/4 with Be Forest (see Soundboard) and Tüth. Hide will have their debut two-song tape, released on Artistic Integrity.
