This delightfully frowsy comedy features Slovenian pop star Roberto Magnifico in a droll performance as Max, an aging artist who waits in languid repose to be discovered while his long-suffering but increasingly pissed-off girlfriend supports him. Spending most of his days recovering from nights of debauchery, Max lolls around spouting quotes from famous artists. Director Damjan Kozole intentionally blurs the distinction between artist and poseur: Max barely touches a canvas, and a friend of his casually admits to plagiarizing Baudelaire. But walking the precipice between self-parody and tragedy, Max demonstrates that playing the artist can be as important as actually being one. Magnifico's musical number that concludes the film is priceless. With Tina Gorenjak. In Slovene with subtitles. 90 min.
