[Re: "Jazz in Bloom," January 26]

Chicago boasts a wealth of great jazz musicians like Fred Anderson, Vince Willis, Hank Ford, Willie and Bethany Pickens, Chris Foreman, Toby Williams, Bill McFarland, Ari and Kirk Brown, Will Howard, Phil Thomas, Eugene Vineyard, Harrison Bankhead, Sonny Seals, Peter Z, Bobby Broom, Billy Brimfield, Darryl Thompson, Phillip and James Perkins, Koko Brunson, and so many others who toil away in obscurity and bring tears of joy to the lucky club patrons who hear them. The lack of press on these jazz heroes is criminal, yet you sport a cover article on jazz academia. What the fuck is up with that?
