I will agree with your assessment that California is a congested street [Neighborhood News, February 23].
However I did notice your article conveniently did not mention the amount of traffic lights and stop signs already in place on California Avenue.
There are traffic lights at the intersections of California and 31st, 33rd, 34th, 35th, 38th, 39th, 40th, 43rd, and 47th, as well as stop signs at the intersections of 36th, 44th, and 45th.
In a 16-block stretch, there are 12 traffic control devices in place. This is not a street as busy as Pulaski or Cicero. Nor is it a downtown Chicago street. How many more traffic signals does anyone think are needed? Aren't 12 in 16 blocks quite enough??
